   R

renmen, to like / love

## 1. Sound & pronunciation

R varies by speaker and region, but it is generally not the heavy English r. Keep it light and do not over-roll it.

**Pronunciation guide:** /ɣ/ or regional r, soft throat r; lighter than French r.

## 2. Grammar rule

Before o, ò, on, and ou, many words use **w** instead of r: **pwoblèm**, **wòch**.

## 3. Vocabulary building blocks

Practice contextual reading with words that start with, contain, or clearly showcase **R**.
