A is a steady oral vowel. Keep it open, short, and clean; do not let it shift the way English “a” changes in apple, face, and father.

Pronunciation guide: /a/, ah, like father.

The definite article comes after the noun. When the noun ends with a plain oral vowel sound, use a: gato a, kouto a, pye a.
